Denim and Purple Copy Cat

Original:
1, 2
My version:
shirt: gap, skirt: modcloth, shoes:alloy, clutch: target, necklace: from mama
I pinned that first denim shirt and purple skirt forever ago on Pinterest and loved the combination.  A few nights ago I was browsing J Crew and came across that second outfit, so I finally decided to wear my version to church today.  I didn't even realize until putting together this post that the first version I pinned on Pinterest also included a chunky necklace and a clutch.

If you don't already read Kenzie Faith you should check it out. Kenzie is gorgeous and has great style! Defiantly a new blog crush of mine.

Friday Finds April Showers

I lived in Kodiak when I was little where it once rained 80 days strait in the summer, and grew up in North Carolina over half of my life where almost daily there were evening thunderstorms, so I love the rain! Living in Utah now I miss those thunderstorms and really like the rainy days we get here in April. Here's some cute rainy day finds for your weekend.
1. I love this rain drop bag! I can't find the original source, but I think adding raindrops to a simple bag would be pretty easy and so cute.
2. All my rain coats when I was a little girl were either navy blue or hunter green, lined with plaid flannel and smelled like fish, because Suz and I would alwasy wear them fishing when we lived in Kodiak.  Even though I love the memories of fishing in my smelly fishy rain coat, this raincoat is the total opposite of that in a good way.  It has a lace print, it's aqua, and it has scalloped edges.  Can get much better than that!
3. This umbrella would be perfect for playing in the rain or to share while walking with some. It's huge, and see-through and so cute!
4. If you're like me and love the rain, these wall decals would be cute to put up above your bed to bring a little rain into your day, but without being too dreary.
5. Not that I don't love big rubber polka dot or striped rain boots, these are such a cute option.  They'd keep your feet dry without screaming "I'm wearing rain boots!"

shoot with Rebecca

Rebecca is a friend of mine from BYU-Idaho over at Rebecca Hansen Weddings. She lives in Boston now but came to Utah to visit family and teach a photo workshop.  She needed models so I volunteered Jordan and myself. Jordan did not want to do it at all was as excited as me. We both love how the pictures turned out, so here ya go! And here is her full post.

Twin Tuesday

Suz:
shirt: old navy, shoes: gap, skirt: h&m
Viv:
skirt: refashioned by suz, shoes: forever young, necklace: modcloth

You see that bruise on my knee? It doesn't look that big in the picture, but I promise it is.  I got back last night from a trip to Moab with Jordan and some friends. I went rock climbing for the first time and canyoneering! Now I just want to climb more things. And get more bruises because they make me feel really tough.

12 Year Old Granny

shirt: old navy, shorts and glasses: nordstrom, sandals: forever young, bag: NY street vendor
Those are the words my husband said to me when he first saw me wearing this shirt.  Sometimes he just doesn't get my style.  I asked him how can someone look like a 12 year old and a grandma at the same time and he just said, "Well you've managed to do it." Haha!  I think it might be the lack of boobs in such a loose fitting shirt that makes me look 12, and the big loose shirt that makes me look like a granny. Who knows. :) I actually feel like a look a little touristy in these pictures.  I think it's the shorts.  I never have been able to find a super flattering pair of shorts.  I wore this same shirt and belt on a date with Jensen with skinny jeans and flats, but today was just too warm for tight skinnies so shorts is was.

Polka Dot Friday Finds

Here's another Friday Finds post for you on a Saturday :) How is your weekend going?  So far nothing too exciting here.  I worked most of the day today and Jensen is still working so I've been watching way too much Gossip Girl at home.  I love the polka dot trend happening lately so I wanted to share some of my favorites.
1
This scarf with the colorful polka dots from Modcloth is so fun!
2
The Beauty Department has a great tutorial for polka dot nails.  I tried this a few weeks ago that wasn't nearly as cute as theirs, but I think I just need a little practice.
3
Who doesn't want a pair of yellow polka dot jeans for the summer?  Follow this tutorial to make your own!
4
This polka dot rug from A Beautiful Mess is an easy way to add unexpected pattern to any room
5
I am in loooove with this skirt from Madwell!  It has officially made it's way on to my spring wish list.

School's out for summer!

shirt: old navy, boots: target, necklace: mom's, skirt: made by me!

School's out! (sort of) Hurray! Jordan and I are celebrating by going to Zion National Park and doing some canyoneering.  And then I'll be back next week to work work work on my project and write like crazy too.  I don't have class again until January so that's going to feel a bit strange.

I made this skirt last week during my week of sewing. I can't decide if I like the bow better in the front or back. I'm not very good at sewing but this wasn't too hard. I follwed a tutorial I found on pinterest here.

I hope everyone is enjoying being finished with school (if you are done). And if you aren't, you're almost there! Celebrate this weekend!

Booty Tooch

skirt: macys, shirt and tights: gap, shoes: forever young, necklace: native shop (at bijou market), bracelet: Old Navy
I got this neclace this weekend at Bijou Market and I have to restrain mysel from wearing it every day. I love it!  I felt a little 80s with my poofy sleeves, geometric necklace, and red lips but I kind of like it.

Does anybody besides me still watch ANTM?  Well I decided to take some pointers for my outfit pictures.  Here I am practicing my smize and my booty tooch.  Actually, I think Tyra might call this one the hoochie tooch.  I guess I'll have to keep practicing.

Sister Date

On Saturday Suz and I had a fun sister date.  We started the day going to Bijou Market and came away with really cute jewelry and some water color paintings from Ash-Mae.  Next we went to lunch at Guru's and then back to my house to sew and hang out.

Hobbies

skirt: handmade by me!, shirt/belt: f21, shoes: forever young

I've noticed I sort of go through cycles with hobbies.  A while ago I was into watching T.V. It sounds super lame (because it was), but it's true. I was semi-addicted to Netflix. And then I remembered what real hobbies were and I got really into cooking. Jordan loved that one.  Now I am in to sewing again! And I love it. This skirt was really easy and I sort of followed a combination of this and this tutorial.  Soon I'll post another skirt I made. It took more time, but it was still pretty easy. What about you guys? Do you go through cycles or stick with the same thing? Or try something and never go back to it?

Blossoms

shirt: suz's, sweater: hand me down from roomie, jeans: levi, shoes: f21, necklace: jcp
Last night I couldn't fall asleep until almost 1am, and today I had to get up for work at 5:30.  I think the only reason why I had trouble falling asleep was because I knew I had to wake up so early.  Now it's almost 10 so my plan is to finish this post and go to sleep because I'm super tired, but I'm sure somehow I'll end up messing around on my computer until midnight.  I really have no self control.
Ps. Aren't these flowers pretty!?

Confessions

shirt and skirt: modbod, shoes: miz mooz, belt: h&m
Confession Number 1:  Sometimes when I'm at work and I need a little break I will write an email to myself of blog ideas, my to do list when I get home for the day, or a menu plan for the week.  Or I will write my sister an email.  That way it still looks like I'm doing something important or work related.  This gives me a few minutes to rest my work brain without getting caught on Pinterest, blogs, or Twitter.
Confession Number 2:  When I get home from work I usually have great plans of being productive and working out.  To make myself more likely to work out I'll put on my cute work out clothes.  90% of the time I just end up watching tv, making dinner, or doing laundry in my work out clothes but not actually exercising.

Do you have any confessions you'd like to share?

A Little Western

shirt: gap, pants: ae, shoes: endless.com, belt:f21, watch:fossil (gift from hubby)

I hope you all had a great Easter!  After church Jensen and I had some friends over for dinner then went on a bike ride.  We went down the road from our house and took these photos surrounded by farms and cows.  I also discovered yesterday that "rural" is a really hard/weird word to say especially if you say it over and over.  You should try it :)

Friday Finds - Easter

1.
Easter Eggs! Here's one cute options for dying easter eggs. And there are some more here and here.
2.
This adorable bunny lamp is from Anthropologie, but it's a bit on the pricey side. I think it could be done with a thrifted ceramic bunny for much less.
3.
Growing up every year our Granny would get us a new Easter outfit. What do you think about this dress from ModCloth?
4.
You can't have an Easter dress without Easter shoes. Here's one option I really like.  They're out of my price range, but if you're going to make your dream Easter outfit it's gotta be good.
5.
I've always thought these bird's nest necklaces were cute, and I think they're perfect for spring and especially Easter.

I hope you all have a great Easter weekend! And take time to ponder the true meaning
